OpenAI’s $30B Data Center Deal with Oracle: OpenAI has confirmed it’s the mystery customer behind Oracle’s massive $30 billion-per-year cloud deal, securing 4.5 gigawatts of capacity to power its ambitious Stargate project in Texas. That’s roughly the energy of two Hoover Dams, and more than Oracle’s entire cloud revenue from all customers last year. While the scale is staggering, the challenge now is building and fueling this enormous data center a costly gamble for both OpenAI and Oracle.
Amazon Buys Bee: Alexa, But Make It a Bracelet: Amazon just scooped up Bee, the AI wearable startup that listens to everything you say and turns your life into a to-do list basically a Fitbit with a memory and opinions. At just $50 (plus a subscription), Bee’s bracelet already undercut doomed competitors like Humane, and now Amazon wants a piece of the “always-listening assistant you wear” pie. Privacy concerns? Sure, but when has that ever stopped Amazon from getting cozy with your personal data.
FDA Rolls Out Elsa: The FDA just introduced Elsa, its shiny new AI sidekick, to help employees breeze through reviews, reports, and all the paperwork that keeps the agency humming. Unlike most government projects, Elsa showed up ahead of schedule and under budget, already tackling tasks like clinical reviews and inspection planning without spilling any sensitive data. It’s the FDA’s first big leap into AI, and they’re just getting started expect Elsa to get smarter (and busier) as the agency figures out all the ways she can help.

AI Action Plan
Trump’s AI Action Plan: Big Tech’s New Best Friend?
Trump is set to unveil his AI Action Plan today, his first major move on AI since returning to office. The plan replaces Biden’s AI executive order, which Trump scrapped almost immediately, calling it a drag on innovation. Where Biden focused on safety checks and bias prevention, Trump’s approach is more like full speed ahead, no guardrails.
What we know so far:
Infrastructure: He wants to fast-track data centers and modernize the U.S. electrical grid to power them, since AI demands enormous energy.
Innovation: Block state-level AI laws to clear the path for U.S. companies, even if that means fewer protections or standards.
Global dominance: Push American AI to become the global standard and outcompete China’s rising AI labs.
Trump also plans to crack down on what he calls “woke” AI, ordering companies like OpenAI and Google to ensure their chatbots don’t lean left. The big question is how “neutral” gets defined and who gets to decide.
On the other side, more than 90 advocacy groups released their own “People’s AI Action Plan,” accusing Trump of letting Big Tech and Big Oil write the rules at the expense of workers and communities.
Big Tech seems thrilled. Companies are lobbying hard for permission to train AI on copyrighted material without paying for it and to keep open-source AI models available despite security risks.
In short, Trump’s plan favors speed, profits, and global influence over caution and accountability. Critics call it a corporate wish list. Supporters say it’s the push the U.S. needs to stay ahead.
What remains to be seen is whether this accelerates U.S. leadership in AI or sets us up for a massive energy, ethical, and societal headache.

Teens and Their AI BFFs: It’s Complicated

A new study by Common Sense Media shows that 72% of U.S. teens have tried chatting with an AI companion not just homework helpers, but bots designed for personal conversation, like Replika or even ChatGPT when used more… emotionally. Over half of teens are regular users, with some saying these digital pals are more satisfying than their human friends (though thankfully, 80% still spend more time with real people). Teens use these bots for everything from entertainment to practicing social skills, but about half don’t actually trust the advice they get proving even AI can’t escape teen skepticism.
