Google Adds Video Overviews to NotebookLM for Smarter, Visual Learning: Google has launched Video Overviews in NotebookLM, transforming dense materials like PDFs and images into clear, AI-generated visual explainers. The feature builds on the existing Audio Overviews, but leans into a more engaging, visual learning experience by integrating diagrams, quotes, and data from user-uploaded documents. Users can personalize these overviews based on goals or expertise, and multitask within the Studio panel making research and studying feel less like a slog and more like a guided tour.
Apple’s AI Dilemma Looms Over Q4 Earnings: Wedbush is holding its bullish $270 price target on Apple ahead of the company’s Q4 earnings, expecting stable iPhone demand and continued growth in services but all eyes are on China and CEO Tim Cook’s remarks. While signs point to a modest iPhone rebound in China and anticipation builds for the iPhone 17, analysts argue that Apple’s real test lies in its lagging AI strategy. With pressure mounting and $75/share in potential AI-driven upside on the table, Cook’s next moves could define both Apple’s future and his legacy.
Amazon Pays $20M to Use NYT Content for AI Training: Amazon is paying The New York Times at least $20 million to license its journalism including content from NYT Cooking and The Athletic for AI training and integration into products like Alexa. The deal comes as the Times continues its legal battle with OpenAI and Microsoft over unauthorized use of its content.

Personal Superintelligence Is Coming
Welcome to the era of self-improvement powered by AI and bankrolled by Meta.
Mark Zuckerberg just announced that superintelligent AI isn’t some distant sci-fi fantasy anymore. It’s “in sight,” and Meta’s spending hundreds of billions to make sure it doesn’t just replace your job it rewires your life.
But unlike other companies racing to automate the workforce, Zuck’s vision isn’t about killing jobs. It’s about building you your own AI-powered sidekick to help you glow up personally, creatively, and maybe even emotionally (if you're into that sort of thing).
Key Points:
Zuckerberg’s Big Pitch: Superintelligence is close, and Meta wants yours to be personal, think life coach, creative partner, and bestie in one.
Not Just for the Office: Meta isn’t aiming AI at work automation it wants to “empower” people in their personal lives (and maybe soften the robot overlord PR issue).
Meta’s Wallet Is Wide Open: Zuck’s throwing down “hundreds of billions” and building AI superclusters to lead the charge.
Personal AI is Already a Thing: 51% of people are already using AI for personal stuff, not work so Meta’s move is more trend ride than trend set.
Wearables Might Be the Gateway: Meta is doubling down on smart glasses as the new front line of AI integration because what’s more personal than your face?
AI Talent War: Meta is reportedly waving $100M checks at OpenAI engineers. So far, no takers but the chessboard is heating up.
The Takeaway:
Zuckerberg doesn’t just want to build AI he wants to build you a smarter, more capable version of yourself. Whether it’s motivating you to journal, helping you write a novel, or reminding you to drink water, Meta wants to be there for it one smartglass wink at a time.
The race for superintelligence is on. But according to Zuck, it’s less Terminator, more TED Talk. Stay tuned.

Google Signs the EU's AI Code (While Meta Throws a Fit)
Google just agreed to play nice with the EU by signing its voluntary AI code of practice a move that signals compliance ahead of sweeping regulations for high-risk AI models kicking in August 2. While Meta slammed the EU’s rules as "overreach" and bailed out of the framework entirely, Google’s global affairs chief admitted the code isn’t perfect but is at least less painful than what was originally proposed. Still, Google’s not exactly thrilled warning that the Act could strangle innovation with red tape, copyright confusion, and a bit too much EU micromanaging for their taste.
