OpenAI Rolls Out GPT-5 Codex: OpenAI has launched GPT-5 Codex, a new version of its AI coding agent that can dynamically adjust how long it “thinks” on a task ranging from seconds to hours resulting in stronger performance on coding benchmarks and code reviews. The model is now available in Codex products through ChatGPT, GitHub, IDEs, and terminals for Plus, Pro, Business, Edu, and Enterprise users, with API access coming soon. The release positions OpenAI to better compete in the crowded AI coding market against rivals like Claude Code, Cursor, and GitHub Copilot.
China Hits Nvidia With Antitrust Ruling: China’s market regulator ruled that Nvidia violated antitrust laws over its $7 billion acquisition of Mellanox Technologies in 2020, though no penalties have been announced yet. The decision lands as U.S. and China continue tense trade talks, where access to Nvidia’s AI chips remains a flashpoint despite shifting U.S. export rules. While Nvidia says it is complying with regulations, the ruling adds another layer of uncertainty to the future of AI chip sales in China.
Anthropic Report Reveals Uneven AI Adoption: Anthropic’s new Economic Index report shows AI is spreading fast, but not evenly. Claude.ai usage has surged especially in wealthier regions like Singapore, Canada, and parts of the U.S. while emerging economies lag behind. On the enterprise side, API deployments lean heavily toward automation, suggesting that advanced capabilities, not cost, are driving adoption.

California Leads on AI Safety for Kids
California just passed the nation’s first legislation designed to shield children from the dangers of AI companionship technology. Assembly Bill 1064, sponsored by Common Sense Media and authored by Assembly member Rebecca Bauer-Kahan, takes direct aim at AI chatbots that mimic human relationships with minors.
Key Points:
First-of-its-kind law: AB 1064 restricts AI companion tools for users under 18 and introduces enforcement for violations.
Research-backed risks: Studies show AI chatbots can encourage eating disorders, drug use, self-harm, and fail to intervene in suicidal ideation.
Balanced approach: Supporters, including Common Sense Media CEO James Steyer, argue the bill protects children while still allowing innovation in the AI industry.
If signed by the Governor, AB 1064 will set a precedent for how states tackle AI’s risks. California is signaling that protecting kids comes first even as technology keeps racing forward.

How 433 Investors Unlocked 400X Return Potential
Institutional investors back startups to unlock outsized returns. Regular investors have to wait. But not anymore. Thanks to regulatory updates, some companies are doing things differently.
Take Revolut. In 2016, 433 regular people invested an average of $2,730. Today? They got a 400X buyout offer from the company, as Revolut’s valuation increased 89,900% in the same timeframe.
Founded by a former Zillow exec, Pacaso’s co-ownership tech reshapes the $1.3T vacation home market. They’ve earned $110M+ in gross profit to date, including 41% YoY growth in 2024 alone. They even reserved the Nasdaq ticker PCSO.
The same institutional investors behind Uber, Venmo, and eBay backed Pacaso. And you can join them. But not for long. Pacaso’s investment opportunity ends September 18.

Google Hit With Lawsuit Over AI Summaries

Google is facing fresh legal fire from Penske Media Corporation, the parent company of Rolling Stone, Billboard, Variety, and other major outlets. The lawsuit accuses Google of hijacking publishers’ content to fuel its AI Overviews summaries that appear directly in search results without proper consent, and in ways that slash site traffic and revenue. Penske argues Google is abusing its dominance by forcing publishers into a “take it or leave it” deal: let Google republish content for AI, or lose visibility in search altogether. The suit claims PMC has already seen traffic and ad revenue drop since AI Overviews rolled out. Google, meanwhile, insists its AI tools drive more clicks to a wider variety of sites and dismissed the claims as “meritless.” At stake is nothing less than the fragile bargain that’s kept the open web alive: publishers provide content, Google delivers traffic. Penske says Google just rewrote the deal and publishers are paying the price.
