Top Stories
Airbnb Is All-In on AI: Airbnb says its in-house AI agent is already handling about a third of North American customer support and plans to scale that globally, with leadership claiming it’ll cut costs and outperform humans on certain issues. CEO Brian Chesky is betting big on an AI-first future, bringing in Ahmad Al-Dahle to build an app that “knows you” and layers intelligence across trip planning, hosting, and operations. Investors are questioning long-term risks, but Airbnb argues its data, infrastructure, and 18-year ecosystem give it an edge that generic AI chatbots simply can’t replicate.
India Steps Into the AI Spotlight: India is hosting a five-day AI summit in New Delhi this week, pulling in 20 world leaders and top tech CEOs as it makes a serious play to be seen as a global AI force, not just a fast-growing market. The India AI Impact Summit is the first of its kind in the Global South and reflects how AI conversations have shifted from niche safety debates to full-scale discussions about jobs, regulation, infrastructure, and economic power. No binding deal is expected, but the message is clear: India wants a seat at the table shaping how AI impacts the world, especially as developing economies look for a voice in tech dominated by the West.
ByteDance’s AI Video Tool Sparks Hollywood Backlash: ByteDance is facing mounting criticism over its new AI video generator, Seedance 2.0, after major Hollywood groups accused the company of using copyrighted material and actors’ likenesses without permission. The Motion Picture Association and SAG-AFTRA say the tool enables large-scale infringement, including unauthorized use of voices and faces, while creatives warn this could seriously threaten jobs across the industry. ByteDance says it respects intellectual property rights and is working to strengthen safeguards.

Claude Breaks Into the Top 10 After Super Bowl Push

Anthropic’s Super Bowl campaign appears to have done more than grab attention. It moved real numbers. In the three days following the ads, Claude generated roughly 148,000 U.S. downloads across iOS and Android, a 32% increase compared to the previous three-day period, and climbed from No. 41 to No. 7 on the U.S. App Store, its highest ranking to date. Daily installs averaged around 49,000 during that spike, well above its typical 37,000 range, signaling that its ad-free positioning combined with the release of the new Opus 4.6 model is landing at a time when users are increasingly sensitive to aggressive monetization inside competing AI apps.
