Facebook Is Letting AI Make Your Posts a Little Extra: Meta just rolled out new Facebook features powered by Meta AI and they are clearly aiming for more personality and less boring scrolling. You can now animate your profile picture, restyle Stories and Memories with simple AI prompts and add animated backgrounds to text posts so your updates feel more expressive without extra effort. The real play here is keeping people posting and reacting by making everyday content feel more fun instead of forgettable.
Google Is Spending Like Crazy on AI and Quietly Admitting the Risk: Alphabet is heading back to the debt market with a planned $20B bond sale to fund its AI build-out, while openly acknowledging for the first time that these investments could backfire. In its latest financial filing, the company flagged risks like excess compute capacity, rising infrastructure obligations and the uncomfortable reality that generative AI could eventually disrupt its core search and advertising business. CEO Sundar Pichai summed up what’s keeping leadership up at night in one word: compute, as Google races to scale Gemini while trying not to overspend its way into a problem it cannot unwind.
Claude Is Quietly Becoming a WordPress Power Tool: WordPress now lets Anthropic’s Claude read your site data and actually be useful with it. You can ask Claude to analyze traffic, surface low-engagement pages, flag outdated posts, summarize comments, find broken links, suggest internal links, and even generate a writing style guide based on your last posts. This is less about AI writing content for you and more about AI acting like a smart editor, strategist, and site analyst that already understands your site.

OpenAI has officially started testing ads inside ChatGPT for logged-in adult users on the Free and Go plans in the U.S. If you are on Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise or Education, you will not see ads. Yes, this is the moment everyone said would eventually happen.
Before the panic sets in, this is not ads inside answers and it is not brands rewriting ChatGPT responses. OpenAI is being very explicit about what this test is and what it is not.
Here’s what’s actually happening:
Ads are shown separately from ChatGPT answers and are always labeled as sponsored. They do not influence responses.
Ads are matched to the general context of what you are working on, combined with past interactions and ad engagement, without advertisers seeing your conversations.
Advertisers never get access to your chats, chat history, memories, or personal details. They only receive aggregate performance data like views and clicks.
Ads will not appear for users under 18 or near sensitive topics like health, mental health, or politics.
This is a test, not a full rollout. OpenAI is watching feedback closely to see where the experience breaks.
Now, if you are on a Free or Go plan and thinking here come the ads, there are a few things you can do to control them.
While you cannot fully stop ads on these plans, you can control them more than you think.
Here’s how you can manage what you see:
You can dismiss ads you do not want to see and give feedback on why they are not relevant.
You can view why a specific ad was shown to you so it is not a black box.
You can see and clear your ad history at any time.
You can turn off ad personalization and adjust how much past activity is used.
If ads are a hard no, you can upgrade or opt out on Free in exchange for fewer daily messages.
This is not social media ad chaos. It is a controlled, task-based ad experiment.
On the contrary, Anthropic saw this coming and turned it into a full-blown marketing moment for Claude. They ran national TV commercials during the Super Bowl openly mocking ad-supported AI, leaning hard into the idea of Claude as a clean, ad-free alternative. It is a smart move for users who are already allergic to ads.
Sam Altman did not love the jab and publicly called the ads dishonest, labeling Anthropic an authoritarian company. Spicy, yes, but the bigger takeaway is this: AI companies are no longer just competing on intelligence, they are competing on trust, experience, and how they make money.
If you have not seen Anthropic’s commercial yet, you can see it here.
That’s a Wrap for Today 👋
