AI Laws Just Got Toasted (Literally & Legislatively)

Good Afternoon, AI Enthusiast!
This one’s short but good one today.
A major AI regulation battle just took a sharp turn, and Grammarly made a bold move in the inbox wars.
Let’s break it down.

Grammarly Acquires Superhuman to Expand AI-Powered Productivity: Grammarly has acquired premium email client Superhuman to accelerate its vision of AI-driven productivity tools, especially within email one of its most-used features. While terms of the deal weren’t disclosed, Superhuman’s team, including CEO Rahul Vohra, will join Grammarly to build collaborative AI agents across communication platforms.
Bigger Tax Breaks Ahead for U.S. Chipmakers: If passed, Trump’s new spending bill would raise tax credits for semiconductor manufacturers from 25% to 35%—a major boost for companies like Intel and TSMC expanding U.S. production. The move comes as domestic chipmakers face revenue hits from tightened export restrictions to China.
X to Test AI-Generated Community Notes: X is piloting a feature that lets AI chatbots, including Grok and third-party tools, submit Community Notes fact-check-style context added to posts. While AI-generated notes will undergo the same vetting as human ones, critics worry about accuracy, hallucinations, and overwhelming human reviewers in the process.
AI Legal Brief
Well… that didn’t last long 😅
Remember on Monday when we talked about the 10-year AI regulation ban tucked inside the “Big Beautiful Bill”?
Yeah… it’s already gone.
In a rare moment of bipartisan agreement (shocking, I know), the Senate voted 99–1 to strip out the AI moratorium that would’ve blocked states from regulating AI for the next decade.
Here’s the gist in plain English:
👉 Silicon Valley big names (Altman, Andreessen, etc.) were all for the ban, arguing that a single national framework would keep things “clean and innovative.”
👉 Lawmakers across the aisle said: “Uh, no.” They were worried this would leave consumers unprotected from things like bias, fraud, deepfakes, or bad AI in hiring, housing, and healthcare.
👉 After some political gymnastics and a short-lived agreement to shrink the ban to 5 years, it was tossed entirely.
So what now?
States are back in the AI regulation game and that means builders, users, and investors need to keep an eye on local laws again. (Hello, patchwork future.)
More soon as this unfolds. But for now: the AI moratorium is toast.

Amazon’s Millionth Robot Marches In But Who’s Marching Out?

Amazon just hit a jaw-dropping milestone: one million robots on the job, all now powered by a shiny new AI brain called “DeepFleet.” While that might sound like the plot of a sci-fi movie, it’s very real and so are the job jitters. DeepFleet promises faster deliveries and less warehouse chaos, but behind the tech glitz is a wave of automation anxiety. Amazon insists the bots are here to “help,” not replace, and even points to new tech roles opening up. But with over 27,000 layoffs in the rearview mirror and CEO Andy Jassy hinting at a shrinking workforce, employees might be wondering if the only ones guaranteed a job at Amazon in the future… are the robots.
